Developer onboarding: account, identity and team

Three scopes first: developers publish plugins, a customer’s administrator buys, installs and authorises them in their own control plane, and ordinary users only use what the administrator opens. Onboarding covers the first one.

Decide what you deliver

GoalPlugin kindWhere it runsFirst-time advice
Restyle the user console or public sitethemeThe control plane validates and loads constrained theme contentStart from the theme tool
Ship declarative protection rulesrule_packThe control plane validates against the rule model; the edge engine interprets itCheck the rule model supports what you need
Add a page or reportui_pageYour own HTTPS site, mounted by the control plane in an isolated iframeVerify the page origin, then add the bridge SDK
Add a DNS, SMS, mail, ICP or payment adapterproviderAn HTTPS service you deployPass the sandbox contract before wiring a real vendor
Subscribe to events or call the open APIexternal_serviceAn HTTPS service you deployPin down the permissions and failure handling

Plugin kind, the manifest kind and the entrypoint are three things: you pick the kind when creating the plugin; the manifest’s top-level kind is always Plugin; how it runs is spec.entrypoint. Uploading a service package does not mean the control plane runs it.

For a first release ship a free plugin, then add paid plans and external services, so you are not debugging signing, review, payment and calls at once.

Apply for the developer role

  1. Open the developer platform and sign in with your unified account.
  2. Complete identity verification; an organisation also completes business verification.
  3. In “Onboarding”, choose plugin developer, enter the seller name, read and accept the seller terms, plugin developer terms and privacy policy, then click “Submit application”.
  4. Wait for the operator’s review. If it is declined, fix what it says and click “Resubmit”.

How to confirm: “My plugins”, “Page origins” and “Publisher keys” appear in the menu. Signing in alone is not onboarding; before approval “My plugins” says the plugin developer role must be approved first.

Owner and team members

The owner holds the publishing identity: publisher keys, page origins, publishing or hiding versions and pricing. Team members can maintain listings and versions; when they hit a permission message the owner checks “Team members”.

Never share the owner’s password, and never ask a customer for their control plane administrator session or installation private key.
